The Almont Fire Department is an all volunteer organization. If you would like to apply for membership in our Department you must be 18 years of age, a resident of Almont, have a valid Michigan drivers license and good driving record. All candidates must pass a background investigation, and physical examination before being accepted into the Fire Training Academy.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF AN ALMONT FIREFIGHTER
We have two (2) regularly scheduled meetings each month. They are on the first and third Mondays at 7:00 pm or Tuesday mornings at 11:00 am.
Formal training is required within two (2) years of hire. You must be certified to al least the level of Firefighter 1. This involves about 150 hours of training. The Department will help you get this. Ongoing training is conducted at regular meetings and special schools.
Must have a valid Michigan operator’s license.
Attendance at Fires
Firefighters are expected to respond to all alarms that they are in the area for. Until training is complete, you will be assigned duties only that you have been trained for.
Almont Fire Department furnishes all required personal protective equipment.
Everyone must take a physical given by the Fire Department Physician prior to employment.
